Vivian Street Former Garage Site

As mentioned in the latest Little Chester Independent newsletter, we have passed details of the redevelopment of the vivian street former garage site to local residents (those located between Roman Road and the Coach and Horses). We could not get any more photo-copied! If you haven’t received a letter, and want to view the details, you can see a PDF of the letter sent out here.

Please feel free to leave comments on this blog, on the forum, or in letter form to the addresses given in the letter.

View and Contribute to Derbyshire’s Past

A new site has come to my attention. You and Yesterday is all about Derbyshire’s past and is a Wiki, meaning that the content can be easily added to by its users. So, if you’ve got any good old photos, get posting. If not, why not have a read and perhaps add some text to the site!

As an example, a story about the floods of 1965 can be found here.

Gypsies gone…..

…..just their mess (as in rubbish, and as in ‘dog mess’ – turns out dog owners can be fined, Gypsies can’t!) left behind, so I’m told.

I think we need to find out exactly what powers the police do have in these situations as I’m surprised at what an easy target we were here in Chester Green – 300m from the nearest police station. As far as most people can see, they don’t seem to have any (although I’m sure if I tried to settle on council land by causing criminal damage, I’d be arrested……..)

Darley Fields Update

Various things to report.
1. The Gypsies should be gone by Friday as they are, apparently, here for a wake.
2. Apparently the information I received regarding the police was wrong. Sorry! The gypsies had already established themselves on the fields by the time the police arrived (which took a couple of hours as they were all involved in the Derby County parade).

Up to the minute news is useless if it’s wrong……sorry to those whose good names I have besmirched…. 😉

More news (hopefully correct….), as and when I get it!

Local Police Contacts.

Perhaps given the current news, and the fact that several residents have been verbally abused by the gypsies already, you might want details of our local bobbies (so they can move you on to stop you bothering them, I imagine!) They can be found >here< (Chester Green comes under Darley, when it comes to policing issues)

Gypsies Update

We have been informed by the parks dept. that the park Rangers did try and stop the gypsies getting onto the park by parking vans in their way. However, the police actually made the rangers move out of the way to let the gypsies onto our park!!!!

Unbelievable! As always, if you want to contact the police, you can ring them on 0845 123 3333.
