Gypsies on Darley Fields

Gypsies have broken down the barriers and parked themselves on Darley Fields. The last time Chester Green had gypsies on the Green, a mob of around 200-300 people managed to clear them off. The rangers and police know about the problem, although they can be hard to shift…..

Chester Green Alcohol Free Zone?

Due to various problems that people are experiencing on the green of late, it has been suggested by Leanne (one of our local bobby’s) that we could make Chester Green an alchohol free zone.

Good idea, bad idea? Why not let us know you’re opinion in the forum?

New Lamp Tops

The Residents Association have been carrying out a survey along Chester Green Road and St. Paul’s Road regarding new lamps tops, as we have been asked by many residents to try and get lamps tops fitted to match the ones along the cycle path. So far we have not received any objections and we will now be taking this further with the Council.

Play Area Clean-up

Many thanks to the resident who has been cleaning off the graffiti on the play area over the past few weeks, it is most appreciated.

Remember, if you see anyone causing damage, give the local bobby’s a ring on:

Cycle Path Signage – Update

A compromise has been offered regarding the cycle path signage, but the Residents Association Committee were not happy with the suggestions given and are contacting the Conservation Area Advisory Committee on this issue. We have to conform to the conservation area rules, so should the council!

More details when I get them…

Winner of the Word Search

In our last issue of the LCRA Review we held a wordsearch competition. Out of the many entries we received back, only one actually contained all the correct answers (most people missed either “chocolates” or “valentine”)!

The lucky winner of the box of chocolates was Dawn Foote…..well done. We will be getting your prize to you soon 😀

Chester Green Playground Targeted by Vandals

The slide on Chester Green is out of action as it has been vandalised. It is currently fenced off so as not to cause injury. There have been a few problems with vandals in the area lately, and if you see anything, whether it’s vandalism or just general anti-social behaviour, please report it to the police on 0845 123 3333.

Chester Green loses recycling centre

A couple of days ago the council took away our recycling centre from the car park next to the Aida/Bliss building. They had threatened to take it away the next time it was vandalised (after the last time we spoke to them), so I guess it was just a matter of time. However, the problem is that streetcare have no other site to house the recycling bins as yet, so we’ve lost them (note that the council still have them listed here.

We will try and find out what’s going on, but in the meantime streetcare can be contacted at streetcare@derby.gov.uk or 01332 715000.
