Ronald Lee Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO)

A local resident, one who is a particular nuisance (I’m understating here!) has been given a Criminal Behavior Order, as many will have seen via the leaflets the Police have issued around Chester Green.  The resident in question has been convicted many times for assault, shop-lifting, being drunk and disorderly, threatening behaviour,  carrying a knife, assaulting a police officer….the list goes on!  Currently, Ronald is serving 16 weeks in prison.

Anyway if, when he’s released from prison again, you witness him doing anything abusive, drunk or disorderly etc. (see the list on the poster below – click for a bigger version!), then report it straight away to 101 or, if an emergency, 999.  A CBO means anything on the list is an instantly arrestable offence.

Many thanks to Darley Policing Team, Derby Homes and local residents who have made this CBO happen!

LCRA October Newsletter with Correction!

This months newsletter including details on CPR machines, Community Centre events and much more is available below:

LCRA October Newsletter 2015

However, there is one clarification/correction needed with respect to the garages behind Chester Green Road/off City Road which will NOT be used as a compound for the flood defense work.  Clarification regarding this issue is quoted below:

The OCOR [Our City Our River] project is not planning on using any of the garage area on City Rd as a compound –I apologies for any confusion the discussion caused at the Board meeting.

The compounds are to be located on the City Rd Aida Bliss car park ( adjacent to Parker’s Piece) , with the northern leisure car park accessed of Old Chester Rd. and a new compound space created located in the area currently used by the  Council which is where new car- parking is to be created by the scheme. Identified in DRG 14 ( attached)

What we had intended to explain at the Board (obviously badly) was  we are looking to explore the possibility , the costs and the steps we need to take, to reconfigure the garage car park on City Rd –  ( the one opposite the Aida Bliss /Parker’s Piece . ) will a view to providing more parking provision within the Little Chester area. We have some information gathered in the summer about the number of garages being regularly used . We would look to see and explore:

  • how much formal garaging might need to be provided, (could some garages be removed?
  • which of the large trees could be removed,
  • would changes to levels visibility by removal of certain trees give an improved sense of safety ( is there a feeling of unsafeness in that location at the moment?)
  • a review of what a re-configuration of more parking spaces and what a revised layout might look like.

There would need to be retention of easement for properties which have access from the rear of their properties into the existing car park area.

We are not proposing that this area is used for compound- we are proposing that undertaking some work may increase and provide benefit for parking provision whilst the OCOR works are undertaken.

Beautiful Pics of Parkers Piece and Darley Playing Fields!

Always good to see nice pics of Chester Green and the surrounding area.  These two are particularly great by Dave P on Instagram!

Speed Calming Help

I received this message from a local resident.  If you’re interesting in helping with speed calming, please have a read!

Myself and some other volunteers have kindly been trained up by PC Ali Mudasar to assist with the local Community Speed Watches.

We have done a session on City Road and yes, lots of people were speeding – even with us stood there, clearly identified, in high visibility vests, pointing the speed gun at them, with a Police Officer at our side, they were still speeding…  even when they thought they’d slowed down enough!  To top it off, even the Council’s StreetPride vehicles were speeding (in fact, they continue to be some of the worst offenders.)  20mph is a LOT slower than most people realise, and a lot slower than people are going.

Unfortunately, there’s only three of us at present, covering the whole of this chunk of Derby, and I’m the only one from Chester Green.   Although I gather many volunteers had asked to be trained up, I understand we’re the only ones who’ve actually committed to do the work after training.  More volunteers who’re genuinely willing to get trained up and give a commitment (i.e. at least one SpeedWatch per month) would *really* help!

If you’re interested, please contact: PC Mudasar Ali, details on this webpage – http://www.derbyshire.police.uk/My-Local-Police/DDivision/DerbyNorthSection/Allestree-and-Darley/Allestree-and-Darley.aspx
