Potential Graffiti Artist Been Charged

Apparantly, the graffiti artist calling himself ‘Zero’ has been charged by the police. If this turns out to be correct then this should at least put a stop to half of the graffiti in the area. Now, hopefully, they’ll make him clean up his own mess………

St. Pauls Church – Grade II Listed Building

As reported in the forum by Bev, “Some good news for Little Chester, St. Paul’s Church has been accepted by English Heritage as a Grade II listed building, including the memorial. This is fantastic news for the Church and also for Little Chester, well done to everyone who has worked so hard to achieve this.”

Garden City Unsuccessful in Extending Licensing Hours

As can be seen here, the Garden City pub was unsuccessful in extending its licencing hours due to its location in a residential area.

Beat Bobby to Start in Chester Green

Sorry for the lack of updates…….recently got married 😉 Anyway, Chester Green is to get its own beat bobby. He is to start on 14th September. The residents association are having a meeting with the police on the 13th, so more details then!

Recycling Centre Update

Apparently, the recycling centre will now be posisioned in the car park on City Road next to the Aida/Bliss building and not near the garages behind Chester Green Road. It could be up in the next couple of weeks.

More on the Recylcing centre and bins

The Evening Telegraph has reported here confirming that the recycling centre is to be relocated behind Chester Green Road. However, it would seem that residents have mixed feelings on the matter. For example, The Telegraph report Anthony Maher (64) as saying “Some people think it will be okay because they haven’t got room for the bins and it isn’t near their houses. But a lot of people don’t want it because they’re afraid it will become a dumping ground. They can look very messy and we don’t want that. The majority of people are against this new site and would rather have the bins as soon as possible.” If you have an opinion, contact Derby Streetcare at streetcare@derby.gov.uk addressing it to Jim Naismith.

Miller Homes Pull Out of Appeal

Miller homes have dropped their appeal against the councils ‘non-determination’ of their planning application. However, we believe that they are still continuing with their application and that are going to submit some more plans that contain minimal changes. This is unconfirmed, however. As always, we must wait and see. Hopefully our objection letters have not been wasted………

Recycle Centre Coming, Wheelie Bins Delayed…..

The wheelie bins that Chester Green were to receive for recyclable material have been delayed. This is due to the fact that the council recognises that this scheme could be problamatic for those in terraced houses (the majority!) as the bins will take up too much room. They are now piloting a new scheme in Normanton using different containers and so will await its outcome. In the meantime, a recycling centre is to setup behind Chester Green Road (where the garages are) so we can still recycle our waste there. Contrary to popular belief (there have been many rumours!) the large conifer like trees there are not going to be pruned or cut down! Also, streetcare are looking for a 2nd site for a recycling centre and want to hear your views. You can email streetcare at streetcare@derby.gov.uk addressing it to Jim Naismith.
