However, there is more exciting news which you will have seen on our facebook page, and in the media in that the Cathedral is planning on opening a secondary school in DE1 (i.e. near the Cathedral).  This is a VERY exciting proposition for us in Chester Green with, finally, someone acknowledging that there won’t be enough school places for our kids.  Please spread the word, and register your interest at the site below.  More details on the site below:

Ronald Lee Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO)

A local resident, one who is a particular nuisance (I’m understating here!) has been given a Criminal Behavior Order, as many will have seen via the leaflets the Police have issued around Chester Green.  The resident in question has been convicted many times for assault, shop-lifting, being drunk and disorderly, threatening behaviour,  carrying a knife, assaulting a police officer….the list goes on!  Currently, Ronald is serving 16 weeks in prison.

Anyway if, when he’s released from prison again, you witness him doing anything abusive, drunk or disorderly etc. (see the list on the poster below – click for a bigger version!), then report it straight away to 101 or, if an emergency, 999.  A CBO means anything on the list is an instantly arrestable offence.

Many thanks to Darley Policing Team, Derby Homes and local residents who have made this CBO happen!

LCRA Flood Defence Plans Concerns

The residents association have met and raised a number of concerns regarding the proposed plans.  If you’re interested in discussing these, and other concerns, there will be a residents gathering at the City Rd/Chester Green Rd corner of the Green this Saturday (28th March) at 10.00am to highlight concerns about the flood defence planning application.

The document voicing these concerns can be read by clicking the link below:

Flood Defenses – More Details

Having attended the one of the public consultation events regarding the new flood defense proposals, I can state that changes are afoot in Chester Green.  An impressive amount of work has gone into these defences and comments are currently open on the planning application site for around another week (see neighbour comment link at the bottom of this page)

I’ve looked through the documents and although parking, tennis courts and the bowling green all move around, they have all been retained, and Little Chester gets more of a walled city feel, due to the new defences.  Well, it works for York…..;-)

Useful documents are linked below:

Good overviews and pictures can be found in the Design and Access docs:

More detailed drawings can also be found, which are useful for looking at where tennis courts etc. are moved to:

Also, there are some great details of the local archeology:

Have a look and let us, and the council, know what you think!
